to answer the topic question, teamspeak is a program that lets many people talk to each other online.

as for the one you posted, you need either teamspeak or ventrilo(vent) to talk to other people. if you join a good guild, it with have one or both.

If you host a ts server, you gotta pay. But client is free of charge. Servers are usually hosted by guilds. Guild members just need to get a client. The same concept as hosting a website and browsing a website.

You'd better get vent too, btw games like counterstrike frequently use programs like vent/ts (mainly vent of course since its 10x better)

ventrilo.com <--- download client.

I like TS it is a little easier to set up and it is what we Star Trek gamers use any I use a mic along witth my speakers don't like headsets to much.

That is not true. Everyone with a computer and a connection can download the TS2 server program for Windows or Linux and install it on his/hers system. No charge at all except the one you pay for your connection.
Same goes for the client side. It is free to download and to use.

But if you want a 24/7 server: yes, then you most likely have to pay.
